Venue: Keenan Park
Final Score: Rathcline 0-13, St. Patricks 2-06

Round 3 of Reserve League 2 took place on Saturday evening 25th March when Rathcline played away to St. Patrick’s in Keenan Park. On what was a bitterly cold wind evening for football, Rathcline was forced to play against the elements in the first half. By and large, the lads had control for the first 25 mins of the first half with scores coming from Joey Rooney, James Hanley, Colin Fayne and Kevin Hanley. However two killer goals from Ardagh before half time swung the tie in favour of the home team. Half time score: Rathcline 0-05, St. Patricks 2-04.

Playing with the wind in the second half, Rathcline found it a lot easier to dominate possession in the Ardagh half of the field. Scores from Fiachra, Colin and James brought the teams back level. Rathcline started to panic a little and we had a number of big misses in front of goal. Our defence held steady with good performances from Conor McGrath, Cathal Greene, Michael and Sean Morrisey. Stephen Farrell provided excellent support cover for midfielders Kevin Chapman and Shane Casserely. The break through came with one minute to go when Michael Hanley pointed from about 45 yards. Rathcline held off a couple of nervy minutes to continue their unbeaten record in the competition.

Final score: Rathcline 0-13, St. Patricks 2-06.

Next up is a meeting with our good neighbours Cashel in the first derby game of the year. The game takes place on Saturday evening 30th March at 5:30pm in Clonbonny. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
