posted 12 Jan 2013, 11:19 by Unknown user   [ updated 12 Jan 2013, 11:57 ]

The Club EGM was held on Saturday night 5th Jan in the Club House with a large crowd in attendance. The 2013 Executive was formed with the majority of last year’s executive reinstated in block. Albert Cooney moves to position of treasurer with James Casey taking the joint PRO position with Cathal Chapman. Our chairman Liam Connerton thanked all those who accepted positions for the coming year and gave best wishes to those who were resigning from executive.

2013 will hopefully prove to be a very successful year on the field with the appointment of Gerry Lynn from Mostrim as our new Senior Team Manager. We wish Gerry and his selectors (still to be appointed) the very best of good luck for the coming year.

Now that our new Executive is in place, membership is now open to everyone for the 2013 season. As agreed at the EGM, membership prices are as follows: €20 for non-playing members and €50 for players. Peter Skelly will be accepting payment for all non-playing members and Ryan Fallon will be doing likewise with our Club players. Closing date for receipt of membership money is 31st March.

Our annual Christmas/New Year draw takes place on Saturday 19th Jan in Adies Bar at 11pm. Tickets are in circulation around the parish and beyond and are priced at €20. There are ten fantastic cash prizes as follows: 1st Prize: €3,000, 2nd Prize: €1,000, 3rd Prize: €750, 4th Prize: €500, 5th Prize: €250, 6th Prize to 10th Prize: €200. The club relies heavily on the success of this fundraiser to pay for team affiliation and insurance requirements for the season ahead. Your support would be much appreciated. Ticket sellers can return stubs and money to our new treasurer Albert Cooney or indeed any member of the Executive between now and Saturday 19th Jan.

Club Rathcline - Reminder to all Bi-Yearly participants of our Rathcline Lotto that €50 is now due for the second half of the fundraiser term. The half term lotto draw takes place on Saturday 26th Jan and payment should be made to any Executive member before this date.

The Jackpot of €700 was not won this weekend with numbers drawn as follows: 12, 14, 23, 31, 32, 44. Congratulations to our four €25 winners this week as follows: (1) Donal Brady – Aughafad, Longford; (2) Pat Joe Cox – Mount Dillion, Curraghroe; (3) Betty & Joe Murphy – Gortgallon, Lanesboro; (4) Kevin Chapman – Lisnacusha, Lanesboro. Next week’s Jackpot will €800.

Congratulations to both Shane Donoghue and Liam Connerton who featured for Longford in the victorious U21 Hastings Cup match against Roscommon in Cashel on Saturday afternoon. The team will play Wicklow in the next round of the competition on Saturday 12th Jan.

Best of luck to all our Club players (Shane, Eoin & Jack) who are a part of the Longford VEC Schools team who take on Dublin in the Leinster semi-final in Cashel on Saturday 12th Jan next at 1pm.

Finally and most importantly, the senior club would like to wish Shannon Gaels Scor na nOg Novelty act the very best of luck in the Leinster Final at Erin’s Isle GAA club in Finglas next Saturday 12th Jan at 3pm. Once again Shannon Gaels has excelled at Scor na nOg and hopefully the team can progress to the All Ireland Final in this competition.
