All Ireland Final – Commiserations to the Shannon Gael’s Novelty Act team in last weekend’s All Ireland Scór na nÓg final in Derry City. This fantastic journey came to an end as the Tipperary representation claimed the All Ireland title on Saturday evening. The achievement of reaching the All Ireland Final marks a fantastic milestone in the history of Shannon Gaels. Team members included: Dearbhail Flood, Shane Kenny, Lauren Guinan, Niall Keane, Laura & Anna Peters, Andrew Ward and Jack O’ Loughlin.  Great credit must also go the background team and parents for all the work in preparing the act for the highest stage in the land. A very special recognition must go to Maura Tobin who has coached the team to the final. The team has done our parish, county and province proud and we look forward to next year’s competition.

Club membership - At this stage the Club needs to finalise membership with both players and non playing patrons before the end of March deadline. Prices are as follows: €20 for non-playing members and €50 for players. Peter Skelly will be accepting payment for all non-playing members and Ryan Fallon will be doing likewise with our Club players.  Please make every effort to pay membership in the next week or so.

Club Rathcline Lotto Draw - The Jackpot total of €1,400 was not won this weekend with numbers drawn as follows: 23, 25, 30, 32, 34, and 39. Congratulations to our four €25 winners this week as follows: (1) John Sorohan – Killinure, (2) Una & Seamus Clarke – Gortgallon; (3) John Killian – Knock; (4) The Falvey Family – Moher. Next week’s Jackpot will €1,500.

Our first game of the 2013 Championship takes place on Sunday 17th March when we play Fr. Manning Gaels in Clonbonny at 2:30pm.

The club would like to thank Eamon Flaherty and John Muldoon for their generous contributions to the club financing for the coming year.

Croagh Patrick Sponsorship Walk 2013 – This year’s event has been provisionally set for Saturday 11th May. This event is more than just a fundraiser for the club but a social outing for our members, friends and parishioners with a night out in Westport town. Based on previous year’s outings to Croagh Patrick, the club has experienced an enjoyable and rewarding day out with lots of crack in the process. Sponsorship cards are now available from any member of the club. We are looking for a big uptake from the parish and to make it a weekend to remember. Keep an eye on our website www.rathcline.gaa.ie for more details.

The Club would like to congratulate Karen Carberry and John Kelly on their marriage celebrations last Saturday.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade – Rathcline GAA are considering entering a float into the St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year. If anyone has ideas or wants to get involved with the preparations of the float, please contact Pat Connerton or indeed any member of Executive in the next week or so.

Punchestown 2013 – Longford GAA are hosting the 11th Annual Race Day at Punchestown on ‘Gold Cup Day’ Wednesday 24th April. Rathcline GAA has always held the best Club representation at the event and this year we are looking to repeat this feat especially with club man Brendan Gilmore holding the chairman’s position in the County Board. The subsidised ticket price of €100 includes the following: Location at the Final Fence, Four Course Meal, Hot Afternoon Refreshments, Admission to the Races, Race Card, Celebrity Tipsters, Bar Facilities & Bookies in Pavilion; all of which represents fantastic value for money. Book your seat early as part of the Rathcline GAA contingent. €20 Deposits can be given to: Liam Connerton (086) 8776405, Albert Cooney (086) 8118580 & Chris Cullen (087) 2500120.

Bonus Ball Lotto Draw Reminder – The club have introduced a new €2 Lotto Draw in Adies Bar which complements the existing weekly lotto draw. The prize fund will be given out to the person who correctly nominates the Bonus Number on Saturday Lotto Draw. We hope people will support this initiative in the coming months.
