Rathcline GAA – Club Notes – Sunday 20th Jan 2013

posted 20 Jan 2013, 13:49 by Unknown user

Senior training is now back in full swing after the appointment of Gerry Lynn as manager for the coming season. The club is asking all available players to make themselves available for both senior and reserve league football this year. Training continues on Wednesday and Friday nights at 8:30pm in Clonbonny and any wishing to tog out are more than welcome to train.

Club membership is now open to everyone for the 2013 season. Prices are as follows: €20 for non-playing members and €50 for players. Peter Skelly will be accepting payment for all non-playing members and Ryan Fallon will be doing likewise with our Club players. Closing date for receipt of membership money is 31st March.

The Annual New Year draw was postponed last weekend and rescheduled for this Saturday night coming 26th Jan in Adies Bar at 11pm. We hope that the extra week will allow our very dedicated ticket sellers to make one final push to maximise sales.

Tickets are in circulation around the parish and beyond and are priced at €20. There are ten fantastic cash prizes as follows: 1st Prize: €3,000, 2nd Prize: €1,000, 3rd Prize: €750, 4th Prize: €500, 5th Prize: €250, 6th Prize to 10th Prize: €200.

The club relies heavily on the success of this fundraiser to pay for team affiliation and insurance requirements for the season ahead. Ticket sellers can return stubs and money to our new treasurer Albert Cooney, assistant treasurers Chris Cullen / Seamus Flynn or indeed any member of the Executive between now and next Saturday evening.  A club text message will be circulated through the week informing all patrons of where and when they can submit their sold tickets and funds.

Rathcline GAA would like to remind all the local community groups that the facilities in Clonbonny are for GAA related activities only which is covered under Rule 42 of the Association Code. We are asking all community groups to respect this ruling going forward.

Club Rathcline - Reminder to all Bi-Yearly participants of our Rathcline Lotto that €50 is now due for the second half of the fundraiser term. The half term lotto draw takes place next Saturday 26th Jan and payment should be made to any Executive member before this date.

The Jackpot total of €900 was not won this weekend with numbers drawn as follows: 10, 17, 19, 26, 36, 40. Congratulations to our four €25 winners this week as follows: (1) Nancy & Michael Casserely – Clonfower, Lanesboro; (2) Jimmy Greally – Lisrevagh, Lanesboro; (3) Aidan Ganly – The Green, Lanesboro; (4) James P Quinn – Asakeel, Lanesboro. Next week’s Jackpot will €1000.

Congratulations to Longford Under 21 Team who defeated Cavan in the final of the Hastings Cup in Keenan Park on Saturday. Final score: Longford 1:09, Cavan 0-10.

Special mention must go to the Rathcline representation on the panel - Shane Donoghue and Liam Connerton who are an integral part of the Under 21 setup. The team is now preparing for the first round on the Leinster U21 championship which will be played away to the winners of Carlow vs. Dublin on Wednesday 26th March.

Leinster Final – Rathcline GAA would like to wish the Longford Vocational schools the very best of luck in the Leinster final when they play Kildare in Páirc Ciarán, Newtowncashel next Saturday 26th at 2pm. There is a very strong local connection with the team with Shane Kenny, Eoin Sorohan, Jack Rooney, Diarmuid Murtagh and Shane Cosgrave. Please come up to Cashel and support our local lads in pursuit of glory.

The club extends its deepest sympathies to the Kenny family in Fermoyle on the death of Sr. Chanel Kenny, Donnybrook Convent, Dublin.
