Rathcline GAA – Club Notes – Sunday 12th May 2013

posted 13 May 2013, 15:15 by Unknown user

Croagh Patrick Sponsorship Walk 2013 – Congratulations to all the participants who took part in this year’s Croagh Patrick walk fundraiser. The event exceeded our expectations in terms of numbers taking part in the event, the weather and the general craic involved with the challenge. The day was a huge success and a great day out was had by one and all (except for one!). The club would like to wish our chief organiser Ms. Lorraine Farrell a speedy recovery after her fall on her descent from the reek. Special thanks must go to our dedicated first aiders on the climb who looked after Lorraine in her hour of need. We hope that fundraiser will have now established itself as an annualised event going forward.

Club Rathcline Lotto Draw - The Jackpot total of €700 was not won this weekend with numbers drawn as follows: 10, 21, 25, 28, 34, and 45. Congratulations to our four €25 winners this week as follows: (1) Johnston’s Pharmacy – Main Street (2) Rosaleen Egan - Derrahaun (3) Mary & Alicia McDermott – Lisnacusha (4) Pat McCarrick – Ballymccormack. Next week’s Jackpot will €800.

Senior League – Division 1 league resumes this Friday 17th May night in Clonbonny when Rathcline play Mostrim at 8pm. The game hosts the return of Enda Macken (as new Mostrim Manager) and Gerry Lynn facing his home club as Rathcline manager. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Reserve League 2 Rd 7 is due to take place this coming weekend with Rathcline playing Ballymahon in Leo Casey Park. Due to the scheduling of the senior game on Friday night, no day or time has been clarified for the Reserve League game. Please keep a close eye on the website fixtures and announcements for clarifications on this game. Although the game is insignificant in terms of group placings (with Rathcline having already secured a home semi final), the team will be looking to put in good performance and return to winning ways after losing to Moydow in the last round.

Western Gaels – Our U14 team had a comprehensive win in the league on Tuesday evening last defeating St. Francis Dromard in Clonbonny on final score: Western Gaels 9-08, St. Francis 4-07. The win leaves the team third in the table on 6 points pushing for a semi final position.  Rd 7 of the league continues next Tuesday evening 21st May with an away game to Northern Gaels in the Laurels at 7:30pm.

Our U16 team played the second round of the Shield League competition on Thursday last 09th May and once again narrowly losing out to Northern Gaels in Clonbonny on a final scoreline: Western Gaels 2-06, Northern Gaels 1-12. Rd 3 of the shield takes place this coming Thursday evening 16th May when the team host Ballymahon/Forgney Gaels at 7:30pm in Dunbeggan.

Our Minor team resume the league campaign on Monday evening 13th May with a home match to St. Colmcilles at 7:30pm in Clonbonny.

Shannon Gaels - Coaching for U6, U8, U10 and U12 will continue on Friday 17th May in Clonbonny from 7pm to 7:30pm. Please note the time change from previous week. Parents are reminded that children will not be able to train or play matches unless each child is properly registered. Registration forms will be available on Friday (membership fee is €5 for U6, and all other age groups are €25 per child or €35 per family – 2 children or more). All underage players are required to wear a mouth-guard during training and matches. The Shannon Gaels executive committee are encouraging more parents to come out and help and support our young players on the Friday night sessions.
