posted 3 Feb 2013, 12:00 by Unknown user

A renewed call goes out to players in the parish to get involved with the Club for the coming season if they haven’t already done so. The Under 21 Championship is starting in the coming weeks and will be followed shortly after by Reserve League 2; a competition which we hope the club can successfully retain our title in. The senior league also starts in April. There is good diversity in the competitions this and we hope the club can accommodate all the needs of our playing members.  Training continues on Wednesday and Friday nights at 8:30pm in Clonbonny and anyone wishing to tog out are more than welcome to train.

Club membership is now open to everyone for the 2013 season. Prices are as follows: €20 for non-playing members and €50 for players. Peter Skelly will be accepting payment for all non-playing members and Ryan Fallon will be doing likewise with our Club players. Closing date for receipt of membership money is 31st March.

Following on from the Shannon Gaels Table Quiz, the Senior Club will be hosting a similar event in Adies Bar on Friday 15th February at 9:30pm. Once again, you’re support would be much appreciated.

The Leinster intercounty Minor football league has kicked off with Longford registering their first win against Westmeath in St. Lomans on Saturday. There are three club men involved with the team – Gareth Johnston (trainer), Shane Kenny and Eoin Sorohan. We wish the lads the best of luck in their next match at home to Tipperary.

Bonus Ball Lotto Draw – The club have introduced a new €2 Lotto Draw in Adies Bar which complements the existing weekly lotto draw. Prize fund will be given out to the person who correctly nominates the Bonus Number on Saturday Lotto Draw. We hope people will support this initiative in the coming months.

Club Website - The new club website ‘www.rathcline.gaa.ie’ went live last week. The site is still a work in progress but we hope it will become a real connection with our community and parish. The content of the site includes everything from club news to recent announcements, fixtures, results, Club History and much more. Anyone that has material contribute especially around the area of club history can make contact with the PRO at: pro.rathcline.longford@gaa.ie. Or indeed if anyone has any suggestions about what should be on the site, please forward ideas to the email address listed above.

Scór na nÓg preparations are picking up pace as we get closer to the All Ireland Final in Derry on 23rd Feb. The general public will get one last chance to see the act in action before the final on Sunday 17th February from 7pm to 8pm in St. Mary’s Parish hall. We ask all parishioners and club members to come down on the night to support the group and give them the send off they deserve before the All Ireland.

Under 14 training commences next Sunday 10th February under the stewardship of Sean Kenny, Ciaran Kenny and Michael Hanley.
