Rathcline Club Notes 7th August 2016

posted 23 Aug 2016, 13:26 by Rathcline Public Relations Officer

The first winner of the 50/50 on a pink envelope occurred on Monday night last when Lewis Hanley from Lehery had his pink envelope drawn. Lewis was the lucky winner of €396 and say well done to him. The blue envelopes are on sale throughout and they cost €2 each and the pink envelope, if you prefer, is for the yearly subscription of €100. Both are options for you and we thank you for your support of both options.

Congratulations to the County Longford U16 panel and management on winning the All-Ireland Final in Tyrone last week. A special word must go to the Ladies of the Rathcline Ladies club who, throughout the competition, played their part in the victory namely Dara Mc Gann, Team Manager, and players, Ciara Healy, Áine Bannon, Rebecca Stavuse, Zoe Gallagher and Sarah Farrell. We also congratulate Ladies Club Chairperson and Ladies Co Board Chairperson, Madaleine Murray on this great victory.

Senior championship: The senior team travelled to Dunbeggan, Stonepark on Tuesday night last for a make or break game in the senior championship Group 3 against Drumlish. For the second week in a row we came out of a game with a one-point loss in a game we should have won.

This defeat returns us to Intermediate football after a one-year sojourn in senior football. The experience was very good, the narrow defeats were soul destroying but at least our very young team learned greatly from the experience of senior league and championship and we look forward to them bouncing back older and stronger in the year ahead.

On Saturday next in Páirc na nGael Dromard at 5.45pm our senior team will play their last game for this year at senior championship level. We look forward to them going out in a blaze of glory and look forward to seeing them giving the performance of the year when they take on Mostrim.

Sympathy: We extend our deepest sympathy to our former layer and team manager Declan O’Flaherty, his wife Gina, and children Oisin, Liam and Sadhbh on the recent death of his daughter Muireann last. We also send our deepest sympathy Michelle Needham, her husband Pat and daughter Grace, Islandeady, Co. Mayo on the death of their daughter last week.
