Rathcline Club Notes 4th October 2015

posted 4 Oct 2015, 14:49 by Rathcline Public Relations Officer

League Division 2 – Well done to the lads on their 7-16 to 1-09 win over Ardagh in the league on Saturday evening. It was great to see some good scoring and a lot of younger lads getting in on the action. Next weekend we face Grattans with the game provisionally fixed for 2pm in Clonbonny next Sunday. Another win here would set us up for a play-off game against a Division 1 team for a place in Division 1.

50/50 Draw – Congratulations to Jennifer O’Sullivan, Main Street, Lanesboro, who was last week’s winner of €360 in our 50/50 draw. The draw takes place every Monday night at 9pm and envelopes only cost €2.

Yearly Subscription to 50/50 - Our 50/50 draw which started almost a year ago has proved to be very successful. We have given away over €20,000 in prize money since the draw began. We are now giving people who live abroad or away from town the opportunity to be in with a chance of winning and supporting our Leinster campaign. After a 10 year wait we are now County Intermediate Champions and on the road to Leinster. A yearly subscription will include membership for the year along with a chance of winning an average weekly prize of €400. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Please contact any member of the executive or email us at pro.rathcline.longford@gaa.ie if you're interested in subscribing.

“Battle of the Bridge” White Collar Boxing – Following on from last year’s successful Strictly Dancing Over The Bridge we have teamed up with our neighbours St. Faithleach’s again. This time for white collar boxing which will take place on Saturday November 14th in St. Faithleach’s grounds. Training has now begun for all boxers and next week’s training session will take place in the boxing club which is located in the Co-op hall at 8pm on Saturday evening

125th Anniversary Celebrations – As the club is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year there will a special concert held on Saturday December 12th in the parish hall celebrating the occasion with lots of local talent on show. Put it in your diaries for a date not to be missed!

Club Merchandise – There is a limited amount of club merchandise including zip ups, t-shirts and car flags still for sale in O’Brien’s. With our Leinster run yet to get underway now’s your chance to get your hands on some of this before the games.

Framed final pictures – If anyone is interested in purchasing any of the team or action shots from the Intermediate final taken by Joe McGrath please contact us on Facebook or contact any member of the executive. Framed pictures 15 x 12 are available for  €30 or prints only €12.

Best of luck to our neighbours and opponents from the Intermediate final, Killashee, as they take on Amsterdam in Maastricht, Netherlands next Saturday evening in the Leinster Junior Championship.

Sympathies – The club would like to extend our sympathies to Padraig and Deirdre Farrell on the death of Deirdre’s mother Chris Shea, Carrowstrawley. RIP
