The
club at the moment are selling €2 scratch cards where the buyer gets a chance
at winning €500. On each card there is a precise time in minutes and seconds,
one person will win the money when the first goal of the world cup final is
scored in July. The club at the moment is fund raising to pay off the debt
incurred for installing a new pitch in Clonbonny. This debt will last a number
of years and with the week to week running of the club, the executive have to
fund raise throughout our parish. There is a disconnect between supporters and
the club, but the executive and executives in the past and future must try and
fund raise as if we don’t, there will be no club. Every parish in the country
is struggling one way or another. I would ask everyone sincerely to buy a few
scratch cards and take a chance, my argument is this, go out any Friday evening
where Clonbonny is alive with U 6, U 8, U 10 and Ladies and Senior teams. It’s
about community spirit, the same as any other team sport in the area, the
dedication of volunteers at executive and coaching and management levels is
there to see. All different age groups using the pitch with support from
parents and friends is a sight to behold, there are future stars out there, a
new generation of supporter, but it will count for nothing if we don’t have the
support of the community. Anyone involved in the GAA knows it a great source of
pride and achievement, the Senior, Ladies and Minor clubs are all trying their
best, it can never be left to fade away, there are too many great sporting
memories to be made out in Clonbonny, so again if there is someone you know
that uses the pitch and is involved in Rathcline Gaa, please support the €2
scratch cards. Thanks.
There
